UNIVERSAL WELD GAUGE, equivalent to English and Japanese universal welding gauges, is a multi-purpose weld gauge intended for general dimensional inspection of welded fabrications, where close toleranes are not expected. It is not used where high accuracy is needed.
Many years of experience have resulted in substantial improvements, co-planer marks on segment and scales and the provision of knife-edges against scales eliminate parallax in readings. The new adjustable scale strip allows calibration to account for wear of the pointer. All scales are easier to read and on some the range has been increased.
The gauge is made from stainless steel, is virtually indestructible and is supplied in a plastic packet case. The ability to measure very quickly, misalignment (High-Low), depth of undercut, depth of pitting (to a reasonable accuracy; where exact measurement of the depth of a pit is required a special pit gauge should be used), excess weld metal of capping size is particularly useful to check work to pipeline specification(API)
